Sony's Japanese division has announced the ELF-MN1, a pocket‑sized 6‑inch display that brings 3D content to life without the need for glasses. The device is set to hit the domestic market on December 11, with a retail price of roughly ¥54,000 (≈ $27,800).
Powered by Sony's proprietary spatial‑reality tech, ELF-MN1 creates stereoscopic images in real time, adapting to the viewer's position. An infrared sensor tracks pupils even in low light, while a dual‑view system delivers a striking 403 ppi – the highest density among Sony's spatial displays. Built‑in algorithms curb blur and ghosting, ensuring crisp visuals.
One USB‑C cable handles both data transfer and charging for a connected smartphone or PC. The launch lineup includes four apps: HoloModels by Gugenka, Deskrium, Animates from Animation Inc., and the helper game Fenestra: my focus, her future by STAYRESIDENT. Developers receive an SDK to craft custom content and can integrate objects captured with XYN's spatial‑capture solutions. Unlike the larger ELF‑SR1 (15.6‑inch) and ELF‑SR2 (27‑inch) models aimed at professional use, ELF‑MN1 targets everyday interaction with 3D avatars.
