The magazine EDGE released an in‑depth look at the upcoming GTA VI, guided by Rockstar North’s development chief Rob Nelson. Nelson spent an hour and a half in the current build, narrating every discovery and sharing fresh screenshots that highlight the game’s direction.

Rockstar put the spotlight on a living environment: over 600,000 animations and unique personality traits let every NPC react to the player’s actions. A vivid example shows Jason staring at a man with a dog, receiving a sharp retort and being forced to retreat. Food also matters—coffee boosts stamina, while a protein shake gives a health “buff.” Public transport returns with functional buses and trains, and personal cars can be summoned via an in‑game app for a fee. Weather now behaves dynamically, with clouds, wind, fog and day‑night cycles affecting everything from pedestrian behavior to aircraft flight.

The wanted level and criminal profile systems have been overhauled. Jason and Lucia’s actions are graded from “Professional” to “Hopeless Case,” shaping story outcomes. Police track suspects by appearance, clothing, weapon choice and surveillance cameras, while a high wanted level forces players to hide in alleys and plan raids carefully. The map is nearly twice the size of GTA V’s, meticulously crafted down to each alley, interior detail, and even scent, delivering a truly immersive city experience.
