The second developer diary for Shangri‑La Frontier: The Seven Colossi announced that players will not be limited to main protagonists like Hanaku and Pensilgon; a roster of secondary characters, previously absent from combat scenes in the anime, is now fully playable. The team worked hand‑in‑hand with original creator Katarina to craft distinct fighting styles and backstories for these newcomers.
Among the first revealed are Dugumata and Bani. Both appeared only as nameless members of Animalia’s clan in manga chapter 63 and season 2 episode 3, but in the game they receive proper names, descriptions, and roles: Dugumata serves as a melee tank, while Bani excels at ranged attacks. Their artwork was completed before the anime aired, and Katarina suggested the catchy name Bani by blending the words for “banana” and “rabbit.”
Unique skill sets were designed from scratch to fit the game’s universe while preserving each character’s flavor. An extra scenario titled “Tour of the Rabbit Country” pits Dugumata and Bani alongside Animalia, highlighting her leadership within the SF clan. Future updates will unveil the abilities of Liona and Skolate and introduce additional characters at the upcoming “Day Sangpro,” further deepening the world of Shangri‑La Frontier.
