During the latest Indie World Showcase, Nintendo staff rolled out a selection of standout indie games. The headline act was Witchbrook – a magical life‑simulation that finally secured an official release date.
Witchbrook is set for launch on 28 January 2027 on PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Players assume the role of a magic academy student, engaging in broom races, potion‑crafting, gardening, and customizing a forest cottage. The title supports online co‑op for up to four players, includes Russian text localization from day one, and will be available on Game Pass at launch.
The same showcase introduced several other projects: the adventure action Winds of Viridia (early 2027 on PC and Switch 2), platformer City of None by a Celeste co‑author (2027 on PC, Switch, Switch 2, English/Japanese only), the colorful adventure Sword of the Sea (19 August 2025 on PC, PS5, Switch 2 and a dedicated Switch 2 release on 29 October with Russian localization), the action‑roguelike Tenjutsu (2027 on PC and Switch 2), and the JRPG Threads of Time (summer 2027 on PC, Xbox Series, Switch, Switch 2). Indie developers are gearing up to make 2027 a blockbuster year for gamers.
