The independent modding team wiltOS Technologies announced that their fan‑made remaster of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic has officially landed on Steam with the blessing of Valve and Ubisoft. After six months of development the project finally got its own Steam page and a full‑blown trailer, and now players can add it to their wishlist.
Community Edition will be distributed for free, but it requires the original Steam version of the game to run. Modders ported all original content to the Source engine, added Linux and 64‑bit Windows support, and introduced full gamepad compatibility. The lighting system has been overhauled, draw distance increased, particle effects and subtitles refined, and cut content restored. New features include a New Game+ mode, a revived multiplayer via Steamworks with P2P connections and access to previously console‑exclusive maps, a brand‑new co‑op mode with unique adventures, bonus levels, fresh weapons, spells, transformations, and full achievement support.
No exact release date has been set yet, but a closed beta is scheduled for November, giving the first testers a chance to dive into the revamped Dark Messiah world.
