Orca Studio together with publisher UltraPlayers have dropped a fresh teaser for the Metroidvania Bolt of Whalington. The story follows a curious Siamese cat and his trusty mech as they explore the mysterious floating whale‑city of Whalington. A free demo featuring four zones lands on Steam on November 5, 2026 at 06:00 Moscow time, with the full release slated for 2027.
Beyond classic genre staples like unlocking abilities and interconnected areas, players can alter the world’s rules via a mysterious Rule Terminal. Turning into a mouse lets the hero befriend former foes, while a simple bottle of soap can bypass an otherwise impassable wall. Each region enforces its own physics: one area’s anti‑gravity turns walls into walkable paths, another features Schrödinger platforms that appear or vanish with the light, and a third even makes a regular toilet a viable means of travel.
The demo covers four zones – Sardine, Kitchen, Cabins, and Residence. Only the Kitchen is fully accessible; the other three are partially opened. The main storyline can be completed in 60‑90 minutes, extending to 90‑150 minutes for thorough exploration. Developed by a three‑person indie team inspired by “Howl’s Moving Castle,” the game emphasizes humor, surprises, and the joy of discovery over grim difficulty.
